We are happy to announce we now have argentium silver in stock. We have added 2 sizes of argentium silver jump rings to our site as well as our etsy store. We will be adding a few more sizes over the next few days.
From wikipedia, Argentium Sterling Silver is a modern sterling silver alloy which modifies the traditional sterling silver alloy (92.5% silver + 7.5% copper) by replacing some of the copper with the metalloid germanium. This makes it very resistant to both firescale and tarnishing.
We are happy to announce some of our unique creations can now be purchased at Envi in Old Colorado City. They currently have a selection of earrings and bracelts, and we hope to expand that in the near future. If you are in the area, stop by and say hi to Gary and Marci and tell them C&T sent you.
For other stores that carry our designs, see our locations page.
We are finailly about caught up from the Rockledge Ranch show. Friday was a bit gloomy, but Saturday and Sunday turned out to be beautiful days. We met lots of great people, saw some old friends and some of our great customers. Thank you to all that came out and saw us.
Our current niobium wire is 18g SWG. This means it’s about .045″ in diameter. No big deal in some cases, but if your like us and like to mix metals it can pose a problem. Well, we have solved that problem! In a few weeks we will have 18g AWG (.040″) in stock. This will mix perfectly with our sterling silver for a splash of color. Once the wire arrives will make a few different ring sizes and put them up in the shop. If you want a specific size made, let us know and we will put you on a priority list. Pricing will run $22-$25 oz, and of course we can anodize it. (Yes, even our popular “rainbow” pattern)
The etsy chainmaillers guild “Linked to the Sea” contest is up and waiting for your vote. There are 22 wonderful entries, picking your favorite 2 could prove difficult. Not only can you vote, but if you leave contact information you could win a prize!
Come join us on Sept. 14th in the Etsy Virtual Labs for a Trunk Show. Team members will be on hand to talk about chainmaille in general, but will also talk about some of their creations and how they do what they do. The excitement starts at 7:00 pm EST.
About a month ago the United States Air Force Academy called me. The art director there is a former student of mine and she was inquiring about me coming out there to teach. Fast foward to yesterday when she called me again. She needed some information from me. Seems in order for me to teach there, I have to be put on a government contract. I gave her the information she needed and she told me that I would get a call in a week or so from somebody higher up in the system to verifiy and get yet more info.
Yesterday and today were spent at Woodland Park High School teaching their art and jewelry class some chianmaille. Last semester we taught them a byzantine pattern, this time we decided on HP 3-1. All the students finished a “stretch” bracelet and had a great time. There were even a few that got bit by the chainmaille bug and got some extra rings to start their next project!
We’d like to thank Woodland Park High School for having us up again. We always have a blast.
So this is a little overdue, but earlier this summer we were vendors at a charity car show. The local newspaper was out covering it and the reporter couldn’t stop touching some of our designs. She ended up getting a picture of us and putting it in the paper. Picture was taken from the online version.
Just a little over a week until our big show at Rock Ledge Ranch and I am starting to stress out. For those that don’t know, this is a HUGE show that attracts tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of people. We’ve done many shows, but this will be our biggest by far. I still have a list a mile long of items I need to make, and a list almost as long of “support” type stuff that needs to be done.
Even if you have seen us before at a show, stop by and visit. We will have a complete new look. We have a new tent, new displays, a new banner sign and lots of new and exciting designs.
If you want to come out and see us, but don’t know where, have a look at the flyer we have up here for more information.
